Movie making is an art and a craft and a lot of fun and a great deal of hard work. Most people who are fortunate enough to actually work in the film business don’t mind the hard work because to them it is fun and they can’t imagine themselves doing anything else for a living. Jing Han, the extremely talented film and video editor, feels that way too. She remembers becoming fascinated with films at the age of five when her parents bought a DVD player. They loved movies and Jing grew up watching and loving movies with her parents. When the lights were turned off Jing could only see the bright TV screen and the beautiful moving images of the film that was playing. She says that movies were very special and wonderful for her and they became her favorite thing — and they still are today.

Jing earned a B.A. in Digital Media Art at Communication University of China in 2015 and then came to the United States and received a Master’s Degree from the prestigious Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University in Southern California. Through extensive study and hands on experience, Jing gained a solid background in all aspects of film and television production, especially editing. Since finishing school she has worked on numerous film and video projects as editor.

One of her favorite films was a short called Stella. This moving and thought provoking film is about a woman who must escape an abusive relationship in order to save her daughter from being sold into prostitution by the man who is controlling both of them. As soon as Jing read the script she decided immediately that she wanted to be a part of that film. Stella has gotten positive reviews and has done very well at film festivals. It had its public debut at SoHo International Film Festival in 2017.

Jing has edited countless films and videos and she recently worked on a feature-length motion picture titled The City of Kungfu. She told us that the action film was a real challenge for her because the amount of film footage was incredibly huge and the fight scenes were truly complicated. The film will be released later this year in China and Jing is excited to see how it is received by the audience and critics. She has two feature films coming up to work on along with a documentary and a music video.
